Join us for the Tumbuh Rimpang exhibition, a thought-provoking showcase that reflects the interconnectedness of contemporary art practices without a singular narrative. This exhibition explores the concept of “tandur” (cultivation), emphasizing humanity’s deep-rooted connection with nature. In today’s world, modern civilization is increasingly revisiting its relationship with the natural environment.
We invite emerging artists to engage with themes of “organic growth”, “dialog lintas budaya” (cross-cultural dialogue), and the fluidity of meaning-making. Tumbuh Rimpang delves into Indonesia's rich traditions and local wisdom while also addressing often-overlooked socio-cultural issues.
The artworks on display confront philosophical, ritual-spiritual, and ecological challenges while considering advancements in science and technology, as well as speculative narratives. Under the overarching theme of “Tandur” (Cultivation), participating artists encourage dialogues that highlight the significance of diverse perspectives in nurturing new narratives. The exhibition draws inspiration from Indonesia's rich cultural and ecological landscape, showcasing how contemporary art can evolve through layered interactions.
